What foods, besides meat, can I get protein from. And what foods can I get fiber from.
I wrestle at my High School, so I need to watch my weight, this is what I've been eating. Breakfast bagel or bowl of cereal, water Lunch salad, fruit, meat, water Dinner Varies, whatever step-mom cooks..rice, vegetables, meat, or sandwich Good? or no? Also, does grapefruit juice help you lose weight? My coach told the team to stick to this plan Breakfast 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, grapefruit juice Lunch salad, fruit, water Dinner meat, something green ( broccoli, green beans) grapefruit juice He told us to stay away from breads and pasta. Is that a good food plan to go by? Thanks for any and all help.

There are many sources of protein besides meat!!! Here are some choices!!
1/2 cup of Tofu ( not my favorite )lol = 20g boca burger = 12g 1/2 cup of cottage cheese= 12g wild rice 1 cup =12g 3T wheatgerm =9g 3 egg whites= 11g peanut butter 2T=7g blackbeans, kidney beans lentils, split peas 1/2 cup=9g Grapefruit juice is one of the best sources you can take for Vit C plus it also has Pectin which may reduce risk of heart attack. There is some research that suggests that Grapefruit reduces insulin levels which results in you eating less, and hence storing less fat.....But you simply should eat/drink grapefruit because it is an Excellent source of nutrition!! Breads (usually white) and pasta simply are not a good source of nutrition and are a poor choice of carbs.....you would be better off choosing oatmeal, whole grains, flaxseed, whole wheat etc............. I'm not a big fan of Bacon..............I'd be happy if you had a can of Tuna (in water) instead...............Oh and I would add bananas to your diet too. Other great food choices for you are Salmon, Mushrooms, Asparagus, Low fat milk, avocados, sunflower seeds, almonds turkey......this will fill your Vit B 1 and B2 also magnesium and Vit E requirements, which is essential for athletes. I hope this helps you out! Cheryl : )
