Default Confused about exercise

Hi everyone,

I want to lose around half a stone, I'm not overweight or anything but could be better. I do cardio around 3/4 times a week for 40 minutes a time. I want to incorporate some strength training into my exercise programme. I just want to tone (not massive muscles) and i go to the gym so use 2x 2ib weights and do lunges, thigh abductor and those typeso of equipment. Any ideas how much i should be doing to lose some weight? Thanks!

Hi Kirsty

It sounds as thought you are really taking your exercise planning seriously. However, the only way to lose weight is with a controlled eating plan and as long as you carry on with the weights, in ,you will find that you will develop toned muscles

The only way to lose weight is to increase your cardio...and decrease your caloric intake....I am happy you are working out 3/4 x a week....but you need to increase it from 40 minutes to 60...That little increase will make a HUGE difference...

Now, you only want to lose about 7 lbs.....you can Easily lose that in about 4-5 weeks...

Remember to workout each muscle every 3rd day....so for example if you are on the Adductor machine on Tuesday....you need to go back on it by Friday....Do NOT become lazy and go into automatic pilot mode...you need to change the exercise each time....holding for 2 counts...or pulsing for 2 counts...or increasing the weight and decreasing the reps..for example...

You will NOT get huge UNLESS you are eating a TON of calories....and Lifting HEAVY weights....taking in a lot of protein shakes, bars, etc.....so don't be concerned about that!

I would recommend you do muscle strength training at least 1 1/2 -2 hours a week...Remember to stretch , drink plenty of water...Also, you have to condition the entire body..so remember to do Chest, bicep, tricep, back, shoulders...etc.

I can give you more specific advice if you give me your current height, weight and age....I know you're female....

Okay ! I hope I helped you out!
