Hey,
I have been watching the diet, running and walking lots and have managed to drop about 35 lbs to be at my so called ideal weight. So I feel great. But I would like to tone up a bit more. There's good muscle underneath but I still feel a little flab. Can you advise what's the best way to complete my work here. Thanks so much! |

Congratulations on your weight loss!
Are you male or female....how tall are you? How much do you weigh now? AND how old are you? How long did it take you to lose the weight???? and did you lose it solely on decreasing calories and walking???? Generally, it should have taken you 3-4 months to lose 35 lbs......so I need More information from YOU! Congrats again! CheryL : )

Hi Cheryl,
I am a male. I am 5'5" tall. I weigh about 149-152. It varies. I am 58. It took me about 3.5 months to lose the weight. I lost the weigh by watching carbs and calories. I cut out sodas and bagels, and ice cream. I live in Manhattan. So I started to walk back and forth to my office. That's about 3 miles each way. 60+ blocks. Then as I began to build my aerobics up I began to run again in the morning in Central Park. And continued the walking. Now I can run between 6.5 to 10 miles in the morning and then do the walk commute. Probably 4 days a week. On the weekends I just run. So losing the weight really made a difference in my running. The more I lost the easier to run. Regards, Shuman |

Congratulations ! Holy Smokes! You work out a lot ! LOL !!!
I"m really happy with your cardio regimen....awesome...now I would add some weight training....and resistance training...You need to be doing muscle strengthening exercises at least 2 hours a week....and you'll notice a huge difference in your physique... so, I would recommend you join a gym , or get a trainer...I recommend the Power 90 series....those tapes/dvds are very helpful....but basically you need to be doing squats, lunges, hamstring curls, calf raises, bicep curls, tricep kick backs , shoulder presses, lateral lifts, front raises, back flyes, chest presses, chest flyes....back seated row, over head press.....on and on and on and on......and you need to be doing an ab workout a few days a week too.... The easy exercises to start with...where you really don't need a trainer...are pushups, side leg lifts ( lying down) leg scissors, tricep dips (in chair) ...squats, lunges. ( standing) abs of course..... so, it's definitely time to challenge yourself and take the next step ! Congratulations again! Keep in touch !!! Cheryl : )
