Default Good or bad for you?

Hi Guys, I am new to the forum

I recently split up with my girlfriend of nearly 2 years and it put a big downer on me, but i thought to myself why sit and be miserable when i can now lose the weight i wanted!

I go to the gym, and i used to be a semi-pro swimmer, and now i have taken up tae-kwon-do and kickboxing.

but it seems that i am doing more than 1 thing a day, for example i will be going to the gym today, then swimming after and then martial arts in the evening.

is all this exercise bad for me, because you need to rest inbetween, or does each one work different muscles?

Thanks

Garry

Okay! I am very happy that you are interested in more than one form of cardio exercise ...that's awesome!

Now, I discourage people from working out so much in the beginning...simply because after about 3 weeks....they burn out and they revert back to their old habits...So!

I don't have an issue with you different forms of exercise at all.....It is up to you what you want to do for cardio. I would suggest that you do about 3 hours a week of cardio...for about a month....and about 2 hours a week of muscle strength training....and that's it! YOU can do cardio M W F ............Tues 1 hour of muscle training....Thursday you can rest...and Saturday muscle training again. If you want to stay active , you can always do something fun like shooting baskets or something on your off days....Not a FULL blown workout , but you'd still be burning about 100 calories or so.

It is Very important to rest muscles that you've trained for about 2 days or so....especially if your goal is to increase muscle size...so if you are doing Chest and Triceps on tuesday....you should be doing something else the next time....like biceps back for example. A muscle will Shrink if you wait too long.....after 3 days the muscle will shrink....so you want to make a schedule that works specifically for you and meets your fitness goals.

OH I also recommend that you do cardio first....and then muscle training....if you do them on the same day........You'll hear a lot of conflicting advice on this...but if you are working out a muscle in the gym...you are REALLY not going to have enough energy to get the full benefit from a cardio workout.
I hope I helped you out!

I too agree that it would be better to give rest to muscles after a couple of days training. If not you won\'t see the effective gains on muscle growth. But rest shouldn\'t be more than 1 or 2 days. This gap helps to refresh the muscles.

As Cheryl said doing cardio training first is better as it increases the metabolism and if muscle training is done after that you\'d get better results.
