Okay slow down !!! WE are all getting older....and all the 20 somethings on here are getting older too...so whatever worked for you 5 years ago, 10 years ago, 15 years ago ..will NOT work for you anymore.....so get THAT out of your head. If I had the same exercise regimen now that I had 10 years ago I would NOT be as lean as I am today....I change my workout regimen every month!! LOL !! seriously! I am continuing to challenge myself.
and YES no matter what your age if you do not change your workout...I don't care if you're 25 , 35 or 45....YOU will not get the results you once did simply because your metabolism does slow down slightly and your needs change because you are aging ! NOW, I am 42 now...OMG!!!!!!!!!!! but I have the same BMI that I had in my 20's................and the same body fat % ...............how can that be???? Well, the simply answer is I work my AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA off ! LOL ! But there are a lot of things that I've taken out of my diet in the last 5 years....I no longer eat white bread of any kind...not even a bagel, I do not eat cheese anymore....or any preservatives at all......95% of the time I eat only nutritious healthy foods....and I workout 7-9 hours a week.............2 hours muscle training and 7 hours of cardio. 10 years ago I took out all fried foods, sauces, red meat, chowders, ice cream..... so, YOu don't need steriods...you just need to get excited about working out more... EVERYONE goes through what you are going through...Everyone gets discouraged, frustrated and basically P - offed....seriously....YOu feel like the race has started and your lagging behind.......fine! Now, what are you going to do!??? Find a cardio workout you love...and be committed to it....and spice it up every month....consistency is the key...you have to 'show up" in order to see results...get a trainer , even if it's just for a couple of months....make sure you are using correct form and technique.... You'll get there....Results are the BEST motivator....after 30 days you will see an improvement...and after 90 days you will really notice a difference. But, it's up to you...You need to be realistic with all the factors.....your genetics, your age, your body frame, your family health history.....etc etc....I would recommend you get a full physical exam before starting any exercise regimen. I always tell my clients to be realistic and think of a celebrity they most resemble . Think about who would play you in a movie.....for example...there's no way Angelina Jolie would play me.....but Gwen stefani, Madonna, Jodi foster could....so that's my baseline....my genetic makeup.... I hope I helped you out... stay in touch let me know how you are doing!!! CheryL : )

What does your diet look like? I think that might be a big key. Also you will need to workout a little harder to maintain the same muscle mass.
